The Impact of Maternal Substance Abuse on Child Development | CEU Hours

Fostering Grace from Grace–Snellville is providing Continuing Education for foster parents! Dr. Karen Howell and Dr. Molly Millians from the Center for Maternal Substance Abuse and Child Development at Emory University will discuss the impact that maternal substance abuse (MSA) has on the physical and social/emotional functioning of a young child. We will review the long-term developmental effects of prenatal exposure of alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs such as opiates, and illicit drugs such as marijuana, cocaine/methamphetamine on a child’s development. Also, interventions and educational resources for children impacted by MSA will be discussed.
