THE IMPACT

The 400,000 children in foster care in the United States are immensely underserved and often experience outcomes like: high rates of incarceration, mental health challenges, teenage pregnancy, and an exponentially increased probability of being trafficked. To care for these children, we lean into partnerships with churches and organizations, knowing that together we can make a greater impact.

MAKING AN IMPACT THROUGH COLLABORATION

Since the beginning, our approach has been to collaborate first and understand what is being done, then determine needs and develop partnerships. This goal of caring for vulnerable children isn’t possible in isolation. We recognize the need for collaboration and work diligently to build partnerships with others working toward our same vision.

THE PROMISE NETWORK

This partnership is called The Promise Network: a network of churches and organizations nationwide that are committed to reaching the same goal. We all want to live the promise God makes in Psalm 68:6 “to set the lonely in families,” and we do this through Family Advocacy Ministries (FAMs).

For six years now, Promise686 has exported the best of our work in developing Family Advocacy Ministries and growing the network of churches and organizations that implement FAMs in their local community. We currently support 504 churches and 24 organizations in 18 states, and we now have the potential to reach a very large number of at-risk kids and families. The value of collaboration dramatically impacts what we do each day.

If you represent a nonprofit organization that might be interested in joining The Promise Network, we’d love to hear from you!

FAMs IMPACT VULNERABLE CHILDREN BY:

    • Raising awareness around the needs of caring for at-risk kids and their adoptive, foster, or biological families

    • Recruiting foster & adoptive families to welcome children into their homes

    • Teaching and equipping families to care for vulnerable children by providing resources and educational materials

    • Recruiting and leading volunteers to support foster & adoptive, and biological families in crisis

    • Ultimately helping to provide what vulnerable children need most––strong families

Our strategy boils down to three steps: we want to prevent children from entering the child welfare system, equip the Church to intervene when children do enter the system, and connect children with loving families, forever.

In addition to recruiting families to care for vulnerable children and creating support systems to come alongside these families, Promise686 also awards adoption grants. We ultimately want to see every child in a safe, loving family, forever, and adoption grants help connect children and families for a lifetime. Learn more about our adoption grants.
